May I ask you guys a question please? Are white silkie chickens yellow or white as a chick? does anyone have any photos they could show me? Thanks a lot!

They look pretty white, maybe a small yellow tinge. A mix of whites and paints and silkies and showgirls

More newb questions!

1) How old before you can sort your Roos from your hens? Depends on the breed, campines I can usually tell at 7-10 days, silkies.......months.

2) do both sexes of chickens have little nubs on their back legs (where the roos grow spurs)? Yes, usually.

I guess that I must not be a hatch a holic since I didn't get the email! My husband will be so relieved!!!

Debi..................come over to the dark side...........................

I want a bird that is white and lays blue eggs. Is there such a think?
White legbars for one. Autosexing breed, snow white, crested and the most beautiful pure blue eggs you've ever seen. I hatched some about two weeks ago and more yesterday.
A youngster

You can see my white roo in the background (a cream up front), don't mind his dirty tail, it was muddy

Shhhh do not tell Jason or Chiqita...I have 11 Bresse chicks--6 weeks old and my middle daughter thinks I have 4 Cockerels and 7 pullets.....

Time to break them into Trios!

Send a pm if interested.

Black oil sunflower seeds (BOSS) would be good for her too and scrambled eggs.

Thanks! I will try the egg tonight, since I have those. I will see about getting her some BOSS tomorrow.
I will have her looking good in no time! (I hope). Thankfully no one is picking on her here, so she should be able to heal.

1) Depends on the breed, but roughly 6-8 weeks - unless they are silkies, then a lot longer
.
2) Yes, both sexes have spur nubs.
