California - Northern

Yes, I'm kinda afraid of those people.

Sure wish someone would have told me that about 4 months ago. Talk about disappointed. Guess I will need to find some true Ameraucana chickens next spring.

Nikon, Submission #1 is a shoo in! (Or is that "shoe in?" Hmm.). Definitely a Spring month for the calendar!

On another subject, my real estate broker said that property listing on Starwizard Lane is a "Really good deal.". It's not her company's listing even though she dealt with calls from the owner several times and even suggested the brush be cleared (which has been done), but then the owner listed with another agency.

When I mentioned it to her, she had a momentary panic, thinking I wanted to buy it TOO. I told her I was encouraging BYC folks to buy it.

. Hehehehe.
yes, I looked, the price is $80,000. Wish I had the $16,000 to put down. They want 20%.

I did have a pink egg but that's not blue. I am so looking forward to an actual blue egg and will be disappointed if I don't see one. I only bought them for their blue eggs because that's what BYC people said. I will wait and see. If not I will be one disappointed EE owner.
You hav to make sure they carry the blue egg gene

Okay I submitted 2 photos to the calendar contest! Here are the ones I picked. Watcha think?

Quote: Linda beat me to my own words, Pic 1 is a shoe in. I think Pic 2 might have a bit of a busy background.

And there's no reason an EE (that is actually a non-standard color Ameraucana) should lay anything other than a clear blue egg. The shell color isn't tainted, it's only non-standard on the outside. On the other hand an EE that is a crossbred Ameraucana or Araucana, is more likely to lay green, pink, brown. It would be more unlikely to lay a blue egg. It kind of depends on what the cross consisted of.

Recent posts about Hatchery EEs, from Ideal, Cackle, McMurray suggest that they are laying a lot of pink and green eggs.

They must have mixed them with something.

Ya and we never know what that mix is haha. I like to get my EEs from breeders that make the mix for blue eggs and great layers

I have one hatchery EE, several different colors of AMs, and several OE's with different blood mixes. My hatchery EE is 1-2 years older than the others but outlays them all and her egg is a beautiful green color! I purchased her at the feed store where she was listed as an Americana who would lay blue eggs. The next year, I purchased several different colors of AMs to add blue eggs to my egg basket. But I love having Dini's green egg in with all the blues, browns, and olive green eggs!

I love the first one and that was one of the ones I was going to suggest because it would be great for Spring, which is apparently what everyone else was thinking too.

I sort of did the same thing you did with the EE's and wanting the blue eggs. When all was said and done though I liked the green eggs too. It just gives you an excuse to get more chickens. :)

Happy Birthday Deb!
