Morning!

We did not feel it here.

But I was stupid and lost a hen last night :(.

I have a silkie who seems to have recovered badly from wry neck she was very thin and seemed to have trouble eating and while she could move did not like to walk. She could not tell where anything was. I was tube feeding her last night (have been for about 5 days since I noticed something wrong) And put her back in the coop and did not lock up !

This morning there were white feathers at the window. She was the only silkie taken and I was very lucky. Im sad she died painfully But I was going to have to figure out something soon and clearly couldn't breed her.

Its been an interesting morning...

Sorry about your girl! Glad it was only one! Seems like the animals wait for the chance to attack!

The first chick is a New Heritage Del with Cross Beak.

UofA blues and OEs(UofA Bluee X Crele Penedesenca)

So cute!!! I have 11 of my Pita Pinta/PP cross eggs hatched out of 15. 4 are Pitas and 1 more of the PP eggs has a pip. My crosses are the strongest hatchers. 7 out of 8 hatched. I'm leaving the others in there because my Langshan eggs have finally started hatching. Last night we hit the 21 day mark with not a single pip. This morning, 1 is zipping and 3 more pipping. I hated to open up the incubator to take out the already hatched chicks but they were going crazy in there. I left in the two newest hatched chicks who were still wet. Hopefully, their peeping will encourage my Langshans.

Oh, and my little failure to thrive chick passed quietly into that good night. RIP little one!

Sorry that you lost her. I understand the sadness and the relief at the passing of one that is sick. Hopefully, whatever took her made fast work of it.

Nice!

The UofA hatch still has 10 eggs in the incubator. 4 or 5 have pips and one was zipping when I left for work.

They hatch late and over a long period of time. 24 hours from the first hatched chick would have been at about 3 this morning. I expect one to three more when I get home.

Boxer are one of the BEST for sure! They don't live that long though...

my girl is 3 in June and we have her son who will be 1 in July! Love them! Such good dogs, companions, farmers, protectors, loyal, obedient, and on and on.

My husband gave me our first Boxer puppy, Archie, when we were still dating. Years ago when our girls were little we went on a camping trip. On the way home we stopped for lunch and because it was hot we let the dogs out (we had a second Boxer at that time) and I stayed with them while Tom took the girls in to order and get the food. I noticed a guy asking people for money or something in the parking lot but was getting water for the dogs, tying the boys to the van etc. so didn't notice he was approaching me until I heard his voice. He asked for "25 cents so he could hitchhike to Willits." He was about 20 feet away from me. I am not a cold hearted person and have given spare change/food etc. I always think of Matthew 25 ya know...anyway This situation did not feel right so I told him "No, sorry I don't" well he continued to walk towards me and unfortunately for him he didn't see the dogs. I heard a sound like I had never heard before...it was a growl with a serious purpose and Archie who was about 5 at the time blasted by me. His leather collar broke like it was string and he had that guy by the ankle, shaking and growling and pulling him further and further away until he felt like it was safe to release him then he stood guard and watched as the guy limped away.

He was the biggest clown as well as the great protector. I loved that dog...I have loved all of our Boxers...sniff

That is good to hear that your crosses are good hatchers since I'm planning to hatch out some eggs from my flock and they'll be crosses. I'm hoping for a good hatch.
Sorry about your little chick. :(

@chiqita and @PetRock sorry. It's never easy to loose them even when you know it is probably inevitable.

Crosses are almost always more robust.

The OEs, Crele Pene X UofA chicks hatched very will. 7 of 8 hatched.
