Campine Chicken thread?

I wish I knew him, so he could join our little club. In 3 years time we went from 0 to 20 Campine breeders in a 50km radius in little old Belgium, with Campine blood coming from UK, Ireland and Denmark. Let's hope this puts the Campine back on its homegrounds. We happy:)

Mr. Bob is not "online" at all. He does not have a smartphone and does not text. He does not have an email address or even a computer. He is old school all the way but comes close to actually making a profit off his birds which is really something in the US.

Just had our third Campine meeting. From the cold backroom where 8 of us first sat down a year ago to a beautiful venue with about 20 participants and the judging of this year's stock.
Future's looking good:)

I typed a post earlier, but don't know where it went??? Anyhow, there seems to be tons of information here that I will read through. I have a trio that is a year old this month. The are very different than my other breeds, but are so beautiful. I'm in Louisiana, anyone near me?

I don't exactly where Zachery is, but Monroe is almost exactly half way between myself and one of my breeding partners, north of the Dallas/Ft. Worth area. The other is in Massachusetts.

I don't mean to start out being negative, but your rooster has hanging saddle feathers. They are supposed to be "hen feathered." If you want to raise them to standard and/or show them, that will be a disqualification. I would be willing to try to help you get some without that issue if you are really interested.

Not a problem Wisher. I'm near Baton Rouge, about 3.5 hours away from Monroe. I don't know much at all about this breed. A local guy has a pair that he breeds and I picked them up from him as juvies. I have no plans to show (although my daughter keeps talking about it), but I do enjoy them and want more. I plan to set some of my eggs next week, but would consider other options available. Tks.

talking about campines with saddle feathers, this is how one of my boys turned out
its outline is actually pretty good, see the curve and position of the tail, the evenly serrated comb, the blueish white earlobes, ...
too bad:(

Iakones, your rooster also has red earlobes which is a DQ aswell.
and its tail looks much too bushy, but that may be because it was alert at the time.

are those hens related to the rooster? otherwise post some pictures of them too.

hope you find some good breeding material close by.

I assume they are related since I only saw one breeding pair at his place.

if you have some pictures of the hens too, I'd love to see them
you could start by finding a new, more ideal rooster and matching with the hens
and match him again with the offspring
so in 2 years time you should make some improvement
and cull rigourously
