I read an article awhile back how hatchery's sex their chicks.
It said they gently squeezed the baby to make it's openings bulge. Of course boys and girls are different.
Imagine squeezing thousands of fragile baby chicks and trying to be 100% accurate? I can't imagine me squeezing one little baby.
My God what a terrible job that must be.
How !many die when the squeezer becomes fatigued and clumbzey??
Anyway. Just like the quote from Forest Gump's mother.. "Life is like a box of chocolate, you never know what you're gunna get". I don't mind waiting to find out what it is as long as it wasn't compressed.

The ones with bright red comb and wattles are definitely males but one looks to be a female. I would contact TSC and tell them that you bought these birds as sexed pullets and they all are/x amount are males that you want your money back due to being mislead. If you have the receipt that's even better proof. Sorry you were done over by them.

Thank you so much. I am wondering if they had them mislabeled and how many other people had the same problem. I called and spoke to an assistant manager and she said only one person has complained so far. I find that hard to believe. I do believe we have the receipt, I'm just heartbroken because I'm really starting to like these guys and I can't keep them

I agree I find it hard to believe only one other person complained unless that many ppl still don't know they bought one or 12+ that ain't never going to lay a egg. Mislabeled or not tho it's still misleading ppl to buy them. I would check to see if you got the receipt if you do contact them again and demand a refund on the ground of being mislead to think they were sexed pullets if that fails you could go to the BBB and lodge a complaint against them for misleading you.

From your pictures, I can identify 3 males and 2 females. I THINK the last bird is also a male, but as that is based on only a view of the tail in the last picture, I can't be 100% certain.

Sorry this happened. :( Unfortunately it happens - the wrong sign gets posted, employees mix the birds, customers mix the birds, there are so many steps along the way where things can get messed up.

all three of my neighbors got chicks at the same time. Total 20 birds. All guaranteed to be all hens. 7 turned out to be roosters. Breeders are one thing....but feed store chicks, I wonder just how "sexed" they really are or if are just shining people on.
