They’re getting bigger! She has darker brown feathers coming in on her tail now.

Light brown feathers starting to show on her chest now! So exciting. We also brought home a couple of Khaki Campbells, so there’s extra cuteness!

Definitely a Saxony drake. Buffs wouldn’t be that dark in color, and neither would Saxony hens.

I hope it’s not a drake! I’ll continue to update as he/she grows! Right now it’s my sweetest baby duck.

Do the feathers look that dark? The lighting makes them look either pretty dark or a light brown. Never had a brown duck before so I’m super glad still!

Judging from that picture I would say female. I guess it kind of depends on the lighting. Let me see if I can find a picture of what I’m talking about.

It’s not a great picture, but you can see the difference in colors between the 2 genders. Also, there isn’t anything wrong with the drakes eye, he was just molting into his adult plumage. The main color difference is on the chest.

Looks like you've got a little Welshie
And I would say drake as the head looks to have a darker tinted to it. It looks EXACTLY like mine did at that age.
