Hanging out with them today and it looks like one in particular is really coming into his maleness, with a big bumpy red comb.

Possibly removing some of the other males hurried him along a bit, or maybe it's just his time.

They do generally seem a bit calmer now.

Now we're down to 8! Gave away a couple more presumed-males, including Mr Miami above.

The guy who is taking them seems nice enough -- older gentlemen, quite probably Egyptian, is my sense.

In theory should be down to only two males now. I'll be keeping a closer eye on them.

It might be a 'buff' chantecler. The head shape does look consistent.

But it's not a good angle to take a guess at the sex, at least by my feeble skills.

It's is a better picture, but I still don't feel too good about making a firm guess.

If I had to guess I am leaning slightly towards male, but I think there still could be a surprise.

It's been a while since the last status update:

Everyone's doing fine! The flock is down to 8 and they seem calm and collected these days. There's one or two that are shaping up to be males, but they don't seem to be obnoxious about it. They're all getting pretty big.

I'm just about finished with the coop. Plugged up some of the last remaining holes yesterday. I still need to finish building out the poop-board-support system. No rush on that.

They're mostly roosting on their roost but a few of them seem to prefer just hanging out on the poop board, which, fine, whatever little dudes.

For some reason, at least one of my chickens has decided it wants to honk, sort of like a goose.

Recently hatched 13, now 12, white Chantecler chicks. Some were pure yellow, others had a darker hue.

Genetic differences I have read.

Is there a Standard based preference for chick coloring?

My 12 yesterday, white wing feathers coming in.
