We have feral cats that are getting too comfortable checking out my flock up close. I've caught them sitting on corner posts and using the chicken wire 2x4 supports as a "cat walk". We even saw them using chicken wire top of coop like a hammock!
Okay now you've gone TOO FAR! This means war.
So we thought about putting solar elect wire around top of coop and run. But that's expensive , I do have inside dogs that are cat chasers so no problem in yard but how to solve problem of the break ins from neighbors yard. Hmmm
My DH used to lay carpet and he came up with incredible idea of tack strip nailed to 2x4 support beams ! He even placed it on the top of 4x4 posts. It's like having goat head stickers mounted to run top! Haven't seen a cat since
The strips cost us 27 cents ea. (bought at local hardware store but can get from carpet stores,) and are the width of lathe and approx 36" long. They come with nails mounted in strips and man are they SHARP. Like a seed tape full of thumbtacks . Now they pbly won't last forever but heh cheap, easy (except for getting poked at install)
