Chick grit...?

First time here... do chicks need grit right from the very beginning? Or just later on?

If you only give them their chick food, they shouln't need grit. If you give them anything else - oatmeal, scratch, grains, fruits/veggies, worms etc. - then they need grit.

They don't need chick grit with their starter feed. It's okay to let them have some time in the garden too, they might pick up their own treats to eat but they'll also pick up their own grit.
