chick pipped in the middle and still isnt out.

Yesterday my two eggs pipped and tonight one hatched but the other one is in the middle with no progress. Is it OK or should I help out? Its been around 24 hours since pipping.

Pictures will help determine where it’s at I. The egg. Using small tweezers and opening the pip area will help you see what’s going on. Is it chirping like it’s in distress. Is it moving it’s beak like it’s eating?

I only see a tiny bump near the bottom where it pipped. I don't see any movement and it isn't peeping.

Open the saftey hole up a little. You should be able to tell if it is still alive or isn’t ready yet. Be careful if there happens to be any bleeding wait. Post pictures we can help you through it

Sometimes they get in a hurry and pip before they've absorbed all their yolk sac.

Now it’s day 21, and he’s out but there’s a bit of yellow on his bum. Is this ok?

That's the yolk sac, don't touch it so it can finish absorbing it. If it ruptures it won't make it. How much of it is sticking out?

Put it back into its egg shell or a small cup/bowl so it can’t wiggle around let it that way for a few hours. This way it can absorb the yolk safely.

Update: he’s dry and warm and the yolk sac is gone. all of the eggs hatched!

Here’s the first, problem free chick. He hatched at around 4 AM.

And #2! #1 is a Wyandotte/Silkie/Orphington mix, and #2 is either a Wyandotte/Cochin or the former. I’m hoping for a Frizzled Cochin though, as my rooster is frizzled.
