Chicken Breed Focus - Appenzeller Spitzhauben

He's handsome!
Here's a pic of her white egg and my EE's egg.
It's funny because she honks and is white so we call her goose. We think that's why she's laying us goose eggs!

@faraday
I'm so sorry for your loss. I lost a cream spangled hen to a hawk on thanksgiving morning. All I found was a pile of feathers. She had that great spitz personality and I was sad to lose her. Hopefully in the spring there will be more spitz chicks in your home. Hugs to you and your family!

Thank you.
We're still pretty sad. My DD had set aside the tears to perform last night (choir singing, band clarinet, & chimes). She did fine, so I know it helps to keep busy.

Hi all!
I'm a UK breeder of Appenzeller Spitzhauben, showing and breeding all colours:
Silver Spangled
Gold Spangled
Black
Blue
White
Chamois
I have been wondering whether it would be worthwhile to begin a project trying to develop a new colour, e.g. Cuckoo, laced, buff etc.? :D
Would be willing to ship eggs of F1 and developed colours + iv also got for sale hatching eggs of all the colours above! Will add some pics.
Has anyone got any suggestions for new colours/ purchase hatching eggs??!
Thanks :cd

@Faraday40

Sorry to hear about the bird - I think this might have been one of mine - I remember meeting someone at a gas station who was gathering eggs while on vacation.

Losing birds is no fun - we just lost a lavender cochin cockerel that I was very hopeful about - now I've got a hen that has no man, and is gonna have to get mixed into the spitz flock.

My favorites are Chamois, Gold Spangled, and blue.

A blue with Spangles woukd be awesome.

However, I live in Alaska...so no eggs for me.

A blue with spangles sounds a great idea!
I will try it and let you know!!
I'm sure if you wanted some eggs we could somehow arrange delivery abroad!
