Chicken Breed Focus - Appenzeller Spitzhauben

Pics
Wow! She really shows BOTH!
I see the Spitz chest, legs, tail, & crest. I also see the EE body, comb, cheeks, and of course, blue eggs. I bet she's a flock favorite. My EEs have always had quirky behaviors / personalities. My current EE is 6 yrs old and the flock leader.

She definitely brings some spunk to the flock! Thanks for your breakdown of Spitz traits as I was so confused! She is adorable and love having her make my total of 10 chickens! She is the youngest but most charismatic! Lol!

Finally snagged pics of the 3 golden. All cockerels, I think. Crappy day, snow storm on the way, so they are all puffed up. 2 don’t have combs to speak of yet, but they do have wattles. Their crests aren’t ideal, I suppose. We will see, they are 16 weeks old now.

You have 3 cockerels. Believe it or not, I was leaning on number 3 possibly being a pullet (I have a hen with HUGE wattles, HUGE comb AND spurs) because it look like a more female face. But after seeing the full body shots, those saddles feathers gave it away.
Despite his crest going back a little, I think #1 is your best male. Hes got a nice visible comb and not quite as much black.

Yes, it is, but it is not a show quality spitzhauben. (If you were even concerned) Crest should be forward raking little more and thats an awfully large comb and wattles for a hen. Although i do have a hen that has more pronounced wattles and comb, but not quite that big! If you didnt say you were hatching eggs from her i would have suspected a young cockerel that hadnt gotten his beautiful saddle and sickle feathers. Tail feathers should also have a dot (the technical name eludes me) at the end of each feather.
