Chicken Breed Focus - Wyandotte

My sister was the one that picked the Wyandottes I have. We wanted to get fresh eggs again and she was gonna pick astralorps but they weren't available. She picked the SLW because of their cold tolerance and dual purpose. Their striking color scheme played a part I am sure. Mine are currently only 8wks old so I haven't had them very long. They already got foraging down pat. The moment I open the coop they are off scratching. I am sad to say I lost one today. My sister suggested that it could have been a bird of prey.

This is just one of my cockerels. I should have two.

I’m more of an accidental Wyandotte owner :gig I acquired an adult trio and 10 chicks Friday form a Poultry Auction. I literally JUST went for hatching eggs for my broody silkie, but ended up getting chicks for my broody cochin Bantam. The adults were too pretty to pass up although they are currently being dewormed :hmm
The adults are Blue Laced Red and so are 8 of the chicks, 2 are Golden Laced.
The rooster:

This is my pet chicken named BBB. She’s loveable and adores my dog and cat! If he leaves the backyard looking for me she follows. Now she does it on her own! Scary though. She has learned to attack them for survival outside on her own. She has a Facebook page too! My granddaughter caught her at a rodeo and I ended up taking care of her. Ohh I love this breed very much. She thinks I’m her momma she comes to me calling her like a kitty. She loves cat food and Cheetos. Definitely a smart chick
