Chirping
The best deterrent is a well built coop and a properly enclosed run. No gimmicks required!

you can try electric poultry fencing.. cats don't want to sit or climb on something that'll shock them. It won't cause damage. Found that out with the electric fence we have. it's like strong static shock most the time. enough to make you think twice before doing it again.Unfortunately our town doesn't allow roosters and I only have 4 girls that live outdoors, currently we dont let them freerange unsupervised and their run isnt as large as id like so we plan to be making a expansion when it warms up; With the expansion it would be a plastic mesh fencing and wood stakes so we can move for when we build a second coop likely(for quarantine or so I can put my special needs hen outside to enjoy some fresh air on nice days and the other girls cant attack her) I dont think it would do a good job keeping the cats out though
also I dont believe it would work, our neighbors are really aggressive and stubborn and would likely try to turn it into a "im the victim here your wrong!!!" type thing.
Also id like to keep the cats off our general property if we could since they cause damage and scare off the birds/rabbit that hang out in our garden
Tysm for the suggestions though I appreciate it alot!!
"for people to just toss their cats outside and say its someone elses problem.. Its awful"---I certainly don’t want to argue or anything but you can‘t judge all people who have outdoor cats by the same standards cats are animals who are meant to live outdoors and done correctly its a beautiful thing I have 6 garage/ outside cats who enjoy the outdoors all day and are locked in the garage at night we do live in the country so maybe it is a little different situation and it is very sad some people don’t take responsibility for their animals but don’t make us all out to be criminals
Sorry I’m a little touchy lately Im dealing with my own stay cat situation right now and it’s making me cranky it sounded like you were referring to outdoor cats in general"for people to just toss their cats outside and say its someone elses problem.. Its awful"---
This quote is what I very clearly said is cruel/criminal, you've misquoted me.
Sorry to hear about your situation.Sorry I’m a little touchy lately Im dealing with my own stay cat situation right now and it’s making me cranky it sounded like you were referring to outdoor cats in general
I think it's also predator/prey---I've seen documentaries on wild cats (bobcat/mountainlions) and the bob cat was hiding from the mountain lion because the mountain lion would eat the bob cat. So, probably the mountain lion pee would work, if you could get it safely....A 410 works wonders too.
in all seriousness though. What about lion pee? I hear that BIG cat pee, which can be gotten from zoos and even on line, the smaller cats smell it and avoid it, it's like a territory marking thing or something. Have never tried it but heard a few people say it works on a few types of pests / predators.

I see! 64 oz goes for $93-135 on ebay. They sell cat pee online, they get it from zoo's and places like that I believe.
