Hi, I have two questions, I have 11 chickens and 5 of them are pellets and the other 6 are hens, one of my hens were acting funny earlier today, she was closing her eyes and nodding off, but is drinking and eating normally as far as I know. So far I isolated her from all of the others gave her a heating lamp clean water and medicated food. And another thing, I have about three or four month old pellets and they seem very small (By the way all of my chickens are Rhode Island Reds) they have plenty of food and water all the time. thanks.

Just nodding off and dozing with her eyes closed doesn't mean a hen is sick. I catch some of mine doing that in the warm, late afternoons.

A hen that is sick will be off by herself, usually facing the wall and away from the others. She will not move around very much, and if she does move, she is holding her tail down.

There are sometimes other symptoms that will tell you a hen is sick, such as liquid leaking from her beak, and loose, green watery poops.

I'm pretty sure your hen was just taking a little nap and is perfectly fine.
