Chickies, Chickies, Chickies!! Meet the new additions! (Pic heavy!)

Oh that little crow was the cutest thing I have ever heard!!!!!!!!!!!

X2 :)

OMG I am so glad to be back now! I seem to be on never ending holiday mode lol. I was literally biting my nails waiting for a chance to see Rangi and Po again! My life is complete now. Well, almost. My cot cock just flew over a barbwire fence into a wheat field. So sad...

Isn't he just the cutest?! He's only crowed once since, though. He's so sweet, my little Po baby. He's more mature than the pullets (as cockerels usually are  ), but he's very gentle with them already.

You're on at the right time, Lizard King. :D I was just about to upload their 8 week pictures!! Sorry about your cot cock (that's something to do with quail, right?). Hope you find him! :fl

So, 8 weeks is a milestone, because this is about the time that they will be moving out of the brooder permanently. With my foot hurt, I haven't been able to set up their area in the coop, but I will probably get it done and give them their first coop sleepover before they are another week older. Anyway, I thought I would jot down in general what their personalities are like at this stage for future reference. :)

Hika Ma, big man of the brood. He has been crowing about every morning, but no more signs of maturity beyond that. He's pretty shy of me, so hopefully that means he'll be respectful of me later on. :)

Huka, the graceful lady. She is pretty shy and prefers not to be held without permission. I found her outside the chick area the other day, so I guess she's as flighty as Lakenvelders are supposed to be.

Ihi with the sweetest face. :love Ihi is less shy than the above two, but still prefers not to be touched. She doesn't seem to mind being held and talks to me in this sweet, if a bit anxious tone.

Marama, the CRAZY one. Marama has been flying everywhere, though she hasn't yet flown out of the chick area. She is up in the grape vines, she is on the fence, she is flying from one end of the chick pen to the other, he is absolutely INSANE.

Po baby, such a sweet, gentle boy. He. Is. So. FLOOFY! No tail yet, but you should see his silly waddle-walk that he does with his fuzzy feet! :love

Rangi, my little alarm clock. Every morning for some time now, she has flown out of the brooder in the morning and gotten me up for the day. I'm gonna miss her wake-up call once she moves out... But anyway, Rangi is still Rangi. Rambunctious, shoulder-hopping, adventurous Rangi.

Roha, such a derpy bird! She has gotten so talkative lately! Any time I hear the chicks, it is usually her! She's a bit on the slow side--I hate to say it--but so very sweet and lovable anyway. :)

Tiwhiri, my pretty lady. She is very shy, but so lovely. She is graceful and has such a calm personality when she doesn't think I'm around.

Maybe, but he is still a little guy. :) He's probably about the size of a grapefruit, or maybe a softball, something in that range. Still no tail coming in on him. My little fluff ball.

This morning, Rangi flew over to my bed as usual, but actually didn't disturb me. It was like she knew I fell back to sleep. She just settled in beside me and sat there until she saw me wake up again. :love Then she came over and sat by my arm with her head rested on my elbow, and we both dozed for a while. Major cuteness points to my spotty bird. :love

They all actually flew over at some point this morning, too. Eight birds on my bed and not a one of them pooped until they went to the floor. I am definitely going to miss these babies when they move out.

 You should see my floor.

Anyway, this morning, I had dueling crows from our favorite little guys, so obviously I had to record them. Naturally, once the camera came out, they became shy, though, and so I only got short, individual videos of them crowing.

(Don't mind the wall in the background, the chicks went through a splatter painting phase, I guess... )
