Crowing
I know I posted a similar thread like this before, but it's been a while. I'm thinking about getting a couple more chicks this year. I only have the capacity for two more, as I already have 6 adult hens. I've been told that I shouldn't get only two chicks because if one dies there will only be one one left and of course that's not good. However, I have a store that sells chicks about 5 minutes from my house, so if something were to happen and it died I could just run up to the store and get another so it's not lonely. (Unless it doesn't work that way because of "flock dynamics".)
My neighbors have chickens so I had thought of asking them if they are going to get more this year. If they are, we could get them all at once and raise them together, then separate them when it's time.
Basically my main question is "would it be possible to raise just two chicks on their own, then add them to my flock?"
Thanks,
Devyn
