Cochin Thread!!!

I got him from luckypickens hatchings and they were marked/sold as cochins?

That's the problem right there. I thought he looked like something I hatched from her eggs - blue buff columbian marked egg. I have culled all but 2 birds hatched form her eggs. And I have bought over 100 eggs. The two I kept are still not that great. She claims to have SQ birds, but they are really just backyard pets.

I've always heard great things about how sweet cochin roos are? Has anyone ever had a mean cochin? I am re-homing my super-sweet EE roo in order to be able to keep this little cockerel... hoping I'm not making a mistake...everyone I showed pics too said definitely keep this guy!
This pic was taking a couple weeks ago. I will try to post a new one this afternoon.

I agree - a very nice women but I don't think the majority of her cochins are what I would consider show or breeder quality. I've rehomed all the birds hatched from her eggs.

I'm not a breeder and don't show them so they can stay around, I just like watching them in the yard.

That's disappointing to hear. I have 10 of her eggs in my incubator now. Had to toss 8 that were clear after 2 weeks of incubating. I'm not getting off to a very good start in finding high quality cochins to start a flock. Guess I'll be taking these to the chicken swap to re-home.
