No this is not normal, but it is not laziness either. It may be something neurological. More than likely this won't correct itself so you will be stuck with a handicapped chicken. The worst thing about that is - more than likely he will never be able to integrate into a flock that doesn't know him. If he stays with the group he is in now, they may let him live and just observe him as normal. A new group of birds won't be so kind. (I'm using the term "kind" very loosely)
I agree. I have a few handicap chickens and the were shunned from even there "family". I have a d'uccle that has a neurological disorder and has a trigger that causes sezisures. Absolutely nobody likes her, they are all terribly mean to her. Even my very sweet gentle white rocks, which is so not like them. I had to make a seperate spot for her and the picking just caused her further problems. She absolutely won't go on the ground. So she has a little air condo lol. This is just one handicap chicken I have- there are others and it almost always ends the same- no one wants them (as in the chickens)
