I have some BBS bantam cochins in my 'bator right now. Half don't seem to be fertile but they've only been in for 5 days so I'll wait and see.

On another topic, what's everyone feeding their birds this winter?

I'm considering adding finisher to the gamebird feed that I give my adult birds to help them tolerate the cold.

And, of course, I want nice feathering and some weight on them when we reach the Spring shows.

Any suggestions?

I feed the same feed year round (an 18% layer mix) Young birds get 20%+ to grow up to 6 months. I do use small amounts of dry cat food (Sport Mix) thrown on floor as a suppliment. The birds like it and it is high in protien. Much better than low value scratch grains. Also small amounts of cracked corn but not very much. It works for me.
