Cochin Thread!!!

I have one that just went through a very tough molt and she has so much white in her now. She is still feathering out and I will get pictures when she looks a bit better. I have never had one go through such a tough molt before. She hardly had any feathers in places!
I know, they look so pitiful I wonder if they really are o.k.
My LF Buff roo was really bad too. He is starting to look really good. Both of they are young and this is their first molt and they have matured alot thru it.

I only can take credit for Keeper and Napoleon as all the others came from wwmicasa1 (Lynne) or Fancy Feathers (Nancy).

A lady down the street was getting rid of all her chickens, so I took the kids to see if there were any hens they would want. The kids picked out three hens that were suppose to be silkies. I posted them under the silkie thread and found out that one is a pet quality silkie but the other two I am still unsure of. Please let m know what you all think. Thanks.

Both hatched in March 2012, so they are less than a year old. they both are bantam size.

These are the 3 hens. The buff is a Silkie. The black and white are in question.

Those are pet quality Cochins, Bantams if I am not mistaken. It's hard for me to tell from pictures.

They don't look like it to me.

Yes they are bantam. When I picked these girls up, I knew that they would not be anything close to show quality. I just wanted some clarity of what they might be. They are sweet, cute and the kids love them. I have several types of chickens and these are by far my favorite.

Thats a typical Cochin for you. They are a very docile, laid back breed. They dont mind attention, at all.

Got a few pics of a few this years birds, the frizzle trio I am keeping for breeding and one of the Red pullets that I will be using for my breeding project. Her and another pullet will be the foundation of my Red breeding project, type isnt good but color is very there. Hope you all enjoy. The frizzles are kept on wire and let out daily. They had just finished dust bathing and the wind was crazy, so they dont look the best but you get the idea. They were also taken with a cell phone, so quality isnt great.

These two are the same pullet, not as clean and nice looking as she could be but, im not concerned with that until showing season.

Cant see the frizzle in the back well, but you can see she has a nice head as well. Her feathering is a little better than the above pullet as well, a little crisper and wider. Again, they are dirty but you can still see their type.

Like the way the cockerel is turning out. He also looks to have a decent head. Not sure why his beak turned out so washed out looking in this photo.

I'm loving the Frizzle's... I know I've shared pics of mine, but here are some recent ones:

She will be 1 in the middle of February, and it feels like she was just a tiny chick yesterday.
