Cochin Thread!!!

Bo,

I may want one of your males.

I have eggs in the incubator from both Big Momma who was killed and Little Momma with the Barred Roo Sweet Harry over them both. The blacks are beautiful.....their type was good on both of them. My roo was an accident that we bought last year and ended up with just one cochin out of 29 chickens. We culled the heck out of the excess roosters but kept Harry because he was so sweet. He is huge. The girls were a little smaller. I had two black males that I got at the same time I got the females. But they were mother daughter and father son and I was determined to put a different bloodline in to the mix. Found a good home for the boys.

I would like to increase my flock of cochins. Can't help but love their nature and simply watching them. I have another flcok of mixed chickens. And I have a flock of Barred rocks....with a mean rooster that will be replaced this year.

I still would be interested in a few eggs out of your black cochins if I could get them.

I, too, live out in the boonies. Town is a post office. I am East of Ft. Smith off Hwy 22, past Paris but still in Logan County in Delaware. It would be a partial day trip to pick up some eggs.....just sayin'

Beth

Love the Pictures everyone!
Sorry that Rodriguez is moving to Pa for a while. I met you at the Shawnee show/lunch with all the Okies. PA is full of nice folks though, you won't be lonely.

That's ok did you see there other auction for there partridge? It's a pic from cackle hatchery.. I already emailed them about that one and asked if they thougt it was ok to try and pass off a pic from cackle as their own bird and the sai that they arnt trying to pass it off as their bird but cackle has pics of colors they have.. Humm funny the ad says nothing about the pic not being their bird! I also reported the ad to ebay but since I don't own the pic they won't do anything about it

I contacted the seller about both their listings, and have also reported both listings to eBay. I also sent Cackle a link to the listing using their pic. It's a beautiful Partridge, but how can you post a pic of a bird from a hatchery, and then say your birds aren't hatchery stock? Why can't/won't people just use pics of their own birds???

Here's a photo of my four day or so old St. Partridge Cochin - what do ya think. Loki our smaller St Bernard was watching so he/she was a bit uncertain about staying on the pillow, hence the hand.

Too cute to me - I woke him from his nap for this!

I just love the cochins too! I have some Silver, Gold and maybe one Ptdge left that I have my fingers crossed on hatching - it's not going very well and that is probably due to the eggs shipping from California to NY - some person along the way may not have treated them as kindly as possible or maybe hatching issues are from me. I love this little guy though - he and the Silkie talk together I know it and just kind of look at the other chicks that are smaller than them like they are stuff in their toes - maybe it's the feathered feet?

Thanks! I actually should have stated that better - maybe because they are the only two in the group with feathered feet they feel they are more special.

I hope the Silkie wont be a bad influence on him!
