Your blacks are beautiful - I really like the middle pullet. But I still just love your Lemon Blues! I hope you keep up your great work with them. I wish I had the room and time for another color variety!

Candiss--Wow! The light blue boy looks so nice! He seems nicely compact and carries his width. I like the brown red/lemon blue coloring....if I didn't have my hands full of mille & mottled cochins & silkies......hmmmmmmm

Those blacks you'd posted look great too! Are you using them to boost the LBs?

I have bought Cochin eggs in several places off of ebay and they have turned out okay - I Would definitely try someone local though if I were you. Maybe Coopa Cabana has some suggestions - she's a fount of knowledge.

BTW, did anyone take a look at my mottled I posted a while back? I really would like some feedback on him - he's just a bit young and the pullet I have is only 7 mos so I didn't put her up yet since she's still developing.

Anyway, if someone could give me some thoughts on him - I'd like to use him for breeding but if you all think he's not good enough he'll just be a cute cute pet!

If you didn't know there is a show in Bloomington soon (I think April 9) Gateway Poultry Club. I think it is at the fairgrounds. I think the club president has Cochins. I suggest going early. I had been planning on attending but now can't make it.

This is the first year trying to compile a Cochins-Only Breeders Directory, so we made it really generic, with just their BYC Usernames. But we do have some fantastic folks on there with LF - so you just have to contact some of them and see if they can help you with eggs.

If there is interest, I'd definitely like to expand the info on the Directory! I've been practicing a lot more with Google Docs lately for other BYC projects I'm working on. I have figured out how to create a "Submission" form, which automatically drops the information submitted into a spreadsheet - pretty cool!

I scrolled back to look at your Mottled. Sorry we missed it. It's kind of hard to see his type from the pose. I hope others that work with Mottleds will chime in here. They will be able to tell you how the mottling will look as he ages, and if he is good breeding material. I think perhaps he has too much white on him - the mottling appears (to me) to extend farther up the feather shafts than it should. With Mottleds, various body sections should have a certain number of mottled tips - i.e. every feather; one in two feathers; one in three feathers. But the Mottling is supposed to be a v-shaped tip.
