Recently I posted about having calico cochins and was told that was not an accepted color. From the decription about I see now they are mille Fleurs. Is this an accepted color? I have the standard of perfection and I'm still trying to wrap my head around colors and patterns!! If the MF are not an accepted color/pattern then what was mated to produce this? Trying to learn here in GA....

MFs are not an accepted color, it's a project. If you head over to the Mille Cochin Info thread, you can learn more. Most of us use buff columbian x mottled crossed birds. Some have introduced partridge to their mottled. Lots to learn from.
We should clarity a couple of things for those that do not have an SOP:
1) Mille Fleur is a recognized and standardized Variety - meaning that there is a written standard description which you must breed to, and by which your birds will be judged.
2) Calico is NOT a recognized or standardized variety - there is no written standard description to breed to, or be judged by.
3) The Cochin Breed does not (currently) recognize Mille Fleur as an accepted Variety. You can show your Mille Fleurs, but they cannot achieve a higher win than Best of Variety.
Calicos are sports that arose out of the Mille Fleur projects. Many people prefer Calicos. Calicos do not have the defined trademark MF chevrons (black bar in front of mottled tip). They are generally a whiter and softer color - with much less black. The birds in the above post would be considered Calicos.
Hope that helps.
