@MROO or @SnapdragonQ or whoever... What is this plant it was growing out of our compost pile? So I put it in a kiddie pool with a bunch of compost, soil, and shavings.

There are also purple potato starts in there

Cucurbit. Probably winter squash. I could ID with more confidence if there was a closeup of the flower.

Is the rot on the plant or on tiny little zucchini starts?
If it's the fruits, that's not unusual when it's getting going because often the fruit flowers bloom first before the pollinating flowers get going. It should straighten out quickly enough.

If it's the plant you could have a squash vine borer. Little grub that eats the plant from the inside out. Treatable though if you can find the entrance hole for the grub.
It’s on one of the fruits. But others look fine so idk. And I think the stem is also starting to rot and/or dry out. Had this issue last year but I at least got some veggies off it first 😭😭 happened to the squash and cukes and the squash eventually stopped producing after a few cause they’d all rot. Hoping that doesn’t happen this time. But I don’t remember treating it last time.

It looks like some sort of squash family plant but idk if that would be zucchini, another squash, or pumpkin, or what. Guess you’ll have to wait and see 😂🤣 did you toss any vegetables into the compost pile or give any to the chickens??

Can chickens really have smoothies 😂 you’ll see me out in my yard sipping cold smoothies with them if that’s the case... except they’ll be licking or pecking it.
I put scraps, livers and hearts in the blender for chicken smoothies. When I am too lazy to cut them up
