I grow my hair long so I can donate it to be used for making a wig for a child with cancer.

I'd totally do this, except every time I've tried they've said the hair wasn't usable because it's either too layered or too asymmetrical (right side is down to waist, left is at shoulder) so I guess it makes it difficult to use.

I'm so glad my little car runs on gas fumes and that I filled up in anticipation 2 weeks ago.

Little car here as well, I filled up about a month ago in anticipation that things might get worse, but since I only drive to get groceries I only need to fill once every few months.

Yes the market will come back I'm sure.
Same thing happened back after '08, a lot pulling out cause it dropped when they should've rode it out and bought low.
16yrs I've been putting into my 401k it averaged aroud 3-4g a yr and that was with what I put in. Some yrs better and a few yrs after '08 pretty bad. Last yr I gained 20g like WOW! I took a look a few weeks ago and that gain is gone already, I'm going to do the same thing I did several yrs ago, not even look at it till next yr Lol!

I'm not looking at our 401k or our stocks (stocks were started by hubby's grandma a long time ago, so I try to tell myself that even if they all hit the floor there's no direct loss out of pocket). But I can understand the anxiety this is causing for many folks who are relying on this as income and don't really have time to wait for it to bounce back. Unfortunately the people hardest impacted by that are also going to be the higher risk older folks, so it's truly a lose lose scenario.

How is that politics? Should their names have been posted instead of their job title's, would it be different if they were bankers?
Martha Stewart had to do jail time for insider trading, those four IMHO have done much worse, in the time of crisis.
You just took me back to a totally off-the-wall topic ...
The year "Auntie Martha" went to jail, my Halloween costume was a black and white striped scrubs outfit with "STEWART" on the back ... and paper mache' ball and chain .... decoupaged in a lovely rose floral!

I'm learning.....
Not reading here for more than 6 hours will leave you with enough unread responses to make you go cross eyed!! 🥴 🥴

Getting a bit stir crazy here but worse was the conversation I had with my mom earlier this afternoon. She's in the "at risk" group, twice over, but is still doing people's taxes, running around town, and going to normal places like there is nothing going on. She was totally surprised when I relayed the tax deferment until later. (Ah, no, I do not let her do my taxes.)
She insists on doing taxes because she's one of those people who are unable to sit still, not because she needs income.

She was planning (was, until I lectured her) to do some travel and very unimportant stuff in a different state that's on stay at home orders. She thought this virus was just a typical yearly flu bug and had NO idea what's happening because she doesn't pay any attention.
If it isn't on the ScyFy channel she doesn't watch it. ("Live long and prosper"🖖 )

On a good day she's bullish and difficult to deal with but I think (think?) I might have gotten through. As an accountant she lives in a world of numbers and thankfully my quoting numbers and stats seemed to get her attention. I can only hope she gets better informed and follows instructions, which is not her strong point. **sigh**

In accordance with BYC RULES, we are choosing NOT TO DISCUSS the politics of the issues here on this forum.

MROO, please understand that by saying it "can't be political" that prevents many of us from speaking, sharing our experiences, or relieving our strain through communication.

Would it be political if you asked me how I was doing, and I was Asian, and I described how people were yelling racist things at me? (I'm not but I know people in this very scenario.)
I have to think about how hospital bills, rent, food, etc. will be paid for if someone in my family or my circle gets sick. I have to watch what our state and federal government is going to do to alleviate that burden like a hawk and plan accordingly. Is that political?
I have to think about how mental health services are somehow being considered "non essential" in some places and may be unavailable to me or people I love. Is that political?
I have to think about how elderly care is not being well considered for people like my father who need in home care. Is that political?
I have to think hard about how each governor is reacting to the situation and what will/won't be in effect in Ohio. Is that political?

The ability to speak about your experience with COVID in any depth and have it be non-political is something that not everybody has.

By demanding something be non-political we silence a lot of voices in need. I'm sure that as long as it's kept civil and facts-based it should be fine.

The site LIES! It says that none of the appetizers listed will leave you feeling full. Obviously, SOMEONE has not bothered to consume the entire box in one sitting, before. For SHAME ... and they call themselves innovative experts. =..

Oh - and they left out microwave popcorn. An entire bag of popcorn with a tall glass of chocolate milk is THE BOMB ... amateurs!

It's not my rule ... It's BYC's .. and violating it makes a lot of people turn away. Again, there are places to discuss these things ... but not here! This is a place of consolation, comfort and support. Evangelizing politics belongs somewhere else entirely.
