I've had to fill those out, too, but the only ones who wanted home visits were the private ones ... and some of those were absolutely ridiculous! I think restrictions are being eased, at least around here, with the quarantine in effect. The shelters are taking advantage of people being home a lot - and some are preparing for a deluge again, once people aren't home and bored anymore. Those poor animals! Hopefully most of the fosters will end up being part of the family and can stay. That would be grand! Dreamily optimistic, I know, but still grand!,

I've never done the ones requiring a home visit (already know I won't pass as we don't have a fenced yard), so I stick with the ones that are more straightfoward. My current 3 dogs came from 3 different rescue/shelters.

I think if even 40, 50% of the fosters keep the animals, it's a huge win. And at least the others had a home for the interim, and maybe got a little training or socialization that will help make them more adoptable.

Not all of them require a fence or turn you down because of it. :)

The rescue my brother and SIL got their first dog from still let them adopt her even though they didn’t have a fence and even with a home visit. They just said they were planning to and then later fenced it in. :)

I would still try it. They usually don't necessarily care or turn you down for stuff. They just like to seem stricter to keep away the people who aren’t serious and might bring it back or something. :)

I'm planting more seeds. Thanks to the person who told me to make pots out of feed bags, we are trying it tonight. My husband is going to make handles too so I can lift them up when mowing or what not.

Well most of the ones I've looked into require fencing, especially with certain breeds (like I've never seen a greyhound rescue not require a fence).

We have some pretty decent shelters around here though, clean and pretty well staffed, so I mainly stick with the shelter system. There's one rescue that I've adopted from that doesn't generally require fencing (her requirements vary depending on the specific dog's needs, which is how it should be.) Main problem with shelters here is there's a
super high turnaround - dogs get snapped up so quick! The last time we were trying to get a dog we had 2 different dogs adopted out from right in front of us (we were the next person in line to see them, the people in front of us took them).
