Back from the bank and grocery store.

Ok so that card we were sent was the real deal.....even though they got hubs name wrong(ish).

Activated the card, transferred all the $ into my bank account. Hanging onto the card as instructed in case they do a reload on it in the coming months.

Dude at the bank in line was going on and on about the masks being BS. I told him just to shut up, wear the *@^€ thing and get through this disease in one piece.

Ok, I'm feeling really disgusted ATM...I lived on the Eastern side of the US during 9-11. It impacted me a lot. Few years later I moved out west. When talking to the people there many said it was hard to grasp because it happened so far away, and they didn't know anyone that was impacted.
Ok, I get that.

But this thing is world wide. Every state. Every country. Every Nation. Every continent.
How are people not getting this??

...sorry, rant over.

Wow. I was in NM on 9/11 and it hit me really hard. This is my country! It hit ALL of us! I felt like I'd been punched in the gut. I'd been in Somerset, PA a few years earlier, but it wasn't because of that. I was a basket case for a long time. It still makes me tear up when I think about it. We are one country, at least that's how I feel about it. What hurts one hurts us all. Our unity is our strength. Or should be.

Here they are telling folks that kids under 12 don't need the masks. :barnie

Heading to the store in a couple minutes. Yup I have 3 masks ready.
So the kids can't spread Covid to others? BS.

They live in their own little worlds.

I agree with you

Each state has different requirements/dictates as far as kids and masks, that's why you're going to see all sorts of things as far as kids go.

Here it's under 2 should not wear them due to risk of asphyxiation. Recommended that kids 2-12 should, but only with adult supervision. So I see maybe 50/50 split as far as kids in masks.

9/11 would probably feel more distant to me here on the west coast except my NYC friend reminds me of it each year. She said even though she hadn't lost anyone close to her, she had people close to her that had, and that's how it went for the whole city - no more than 2 degrees of separation between you and someone who'd lost someone close to them.
Here, too. We didn't lose anyone directly, but we all know people who did. I have a cousin who was transferred out of the Pentagon (the wing that was hit) just before the plane hit there, only I didn't know that, yet and was in a panic until I knew that Beth was okay. My SIL was just across the river from the Pentagon, going in to work. She actually witnessed the crash. She never made it to the office that day, just turned right around and went home. She hasn't been "right," since. Anxiety attacks rule her world. Some things, despite hours of therapy, just never go away.

I was in Illinois at work. People were very upset and afraid that the whole country was under attack...of course we figured Chicago would be a target too.

Good for you!!!!! Wish I could be so bold with people, I usually just avoid buttheads or ignore. But can't tell you how many times I've wished I said this or that afterwards!

Remember the silence? I lived very close to a major Army proving ground and between three major airport hubs. The total lack of any air traffic was eerie. Then, as the proving ground started opening up and the planes slowly started returning overhead, we cringed and ran for cover until we knew what type of aircraft was flying over. Scary. Very, very scary!
With this virus, and until very recently, my neighborhood was like that, too. Silent. No cars moving, except for ambulances and the occasional drive-throughs. No kids out playing, either in their yards or in the nearly shut-down daycare center up the street. No neighbors out. Nothing. Very eerie. While things are far from "back to normal" around here, yet, I'm very grateful to hear children's laughter again!
