My daughter (she's 35) has, what her symptoms lean more to, a normal sinus infection, however, I encouraged her to get tested anyway. Hoping to get the results today or tomorrow. It's just scary when someone just plain sneezes now and you get concerned. I'm still pretty much in a bubble in my little town, however the covid rates have been increasing dramatically throughout Massachusetts the past two weeks. Hopefully the small Thanksgiving dinner with my daughter and her two dogs will be doable. I understand that many people are suffering from covid shutdown fatigue, but we need to stay vigilant and protect ourselves and our families. Best wishes for everyones good health.

While I have been busy elsewhere on BYC, all you guys are still in my thoughts. Especially those of you dealing with positives yourself, in your family, or for anyone in your circles.


Cases are going through the roof here, it's spreading through the schools, and the hospitals are busting at the seams. I think I shall start making "Official Hermit" badges to wear...

I'm fortunate to be able to be a hermit but I still have to go buy feed, food and gas along with the occasional trip to a hardware store.
But I think we all need to grapple with the fact that our life has changed and will change for at least two more years.
I know it isn't feasible for most people but perhaps we should all wrap our heads around the fact that school just can't happen. What would be so bad about kids not going to school for a year or two. They can still learn but just not a normal curriculum and grade school, high school and college graduation will just come a couple years later in chronological age.
Wouldn't that beat death?
I think most people haven't wrapped their heads around what it means to be in a global pandemic - of which our country is faring the worst effects.

I'm sure I'll get pushback on this train of thought.

There's pre-pandemic 'normal', and there's during pandemic 'normal', and it's just 'the way it is', while things are out of control right now.
School is important, but it doesn't have to be the same as it's been, and children will be learning, and succeeding, anyway. It's about being flexible, not rigidly insisting on doing the same things the same way, regardless of consequences.

We'll, got another covid alert on our phones. This time letting us know that our Governor was coming on to make an announcement. Boy did he! Our hospitals are full. We.. need..to..do.. something. He is really pushing the masks in businesses. Will fine the businesses 10,000 dollars if they don't reinforce their employees to wear them, and people that come into the business. Humm.... will see. We have been told to only be with immediate family...no groups... for two weeks. Here's a copy of what's up here in Utah.

We are now in lockdown again until 1 December in France but there doesn't seem to be any shortages of anything, everyone is being sensible and not stock piling, everyone wearing masks and if you cant buy them then they are very easy to make with loads of videos on how to on the internet. We live in a small hamlet of just 12 houses so isolation is no problem for us, in fact in France many small villages look like no one lives there with their shutters closed so feel very safe here and just try to do one weekly shop. The worst thing about all this is we have not been able to visit family in the Uk since March and have had no family visiting either But what a celebratiin we will all have when it is over and it is safe to do so

i totally agree. think just that in Italy schools re-opened without the mask mandate in the classroom. so, an average of 25 students stayed at least 5 hours in the same room without mask. and during the playtime students stayed all together closely... a lot without masks. So, imagine how is funny to be a student, wearing a KN95 mask while pretty nobody in the class is wearing a mask...(it was my situation). I obviously would have preferred the digital school for this year.
