GREAT UPDATE:
Chance is getting a lot more color to himself on his beak, around his eyes, and those poor little white legs!

So far he's been absolutely terrified of the pools, didn't want anything to do with them. Well today the little booger...came out of his holding pen on his own...grazed a while. Found himself in the area of the bigger pool the ducks and BB use, dunked his head a few times and tried his bucket bath method. Then he walked around it a couple times beep beeping like he does...and CLIMBED IN!!! I could not believe it!! He got spooked by something after just a few seconds and jumped out, but he's starting to act more and more like a goose! Even puts up quite the protest when I handle him for his eye medicine! I'm hoping to catch him in the pool again so I can share that with you guys!

Has been almost a week and this guy has made major strides!!

Now that I've addressed a lot of his immediate concerns, I was hoping you guys could help me with worming him. His poop has always been very loose splatters, haven't seen any of the signature green goose rolls out of him yet. It also has a smell to it, I'm assuming all of them have a smell, but with his I notice it quite a bit. Thoughts?

Poop picture: These seems to have a bit more solid than what I'm used to seeing from him, but this is from his crate overnight

No not a very graceful entrance at all!! Even when he climbs in the side it's more of a stumble! He is really starting to come out of his shell quite a bit! Not as skiddish about our noisy yard...doing his agitated head shake at the chickens! :lau
He and BB get along but I wouldn't consider them flock mates yet. Although...BB has been chasing the chickens off the food and water for Chance if they happen to all be there at the same time. (Poor chickens, luckily they're much quicker than the waterfowl)
I've been penning them together overnight in hopes they'll bond...I think that's where Chance learned that the pools are not all that bad. It's working out well because Chance is following her out of the pen in the morning when I open it up instead of hiding in his corner all day.:wee

Once the weather cools a bit I'm going to take a good look at the bird friendly plants and try to find some better choices for the backyard. Although everything they like so far has been eaten to the ground...:hit:rant

Video update for yall!!

Hahaha, What an entrance! It's so nice seeing him so happy as well, warms my heart to see him recovering!

I started planting flowering shrubs after all my plants were eaten and even had to fence some of them. :hmm

That's great they are slowly warming up to each other and he is following her lead!

You didn't happen to have hostas did you? My ducks only nibble other plants, but the hostas are completely, completely gone now. They ate the ones in planters near their coop, then saught out the ones in the garden. Have your ducks/poultry been eating any certain plants in particular?

The only reason my hosts survived it they aren’t in the birds fenced in area. A lot of my perennials are long gone can’t even remember most names this was back when my chickens would fly over the fence. I didn’t replace them. I only keep those that have survived. Purple cone flower, brown eyed Susan’s. The ducks ate my day lilies but they still manage to come back they even eat my iris in spring and they come but don’t bloom. Phylox is another one they leave alone.
