Could your family weather a depression?

LOL, I might consider adoption IF you are willing to work!!!LOL

My dh was raised on a farm w/ lots of siblings and didn't buy anything other than gas for the tractors--everything else was bartered for. They had nothing extra but food. The results of being raised 'dirt' poor (as he puts it)-- he can build, wire, repair any motor, do plumbing, fix a pump, knows how to do almost anything. He is not afraid of hard labor. At the age of 55 he can cut and load a truck of firewood faster than his 37yr. nephews or our sons. But he is also the BIGGEST packrat you have ever seen. He throws nothing away that he might need later...he will straighten out a bent nail and redrive it! He has also taught all our children (female and male) how to do things for themselves. He knows how to make do and really doesn't mind doing without--he loves the 'challange' of being without power, being snowed in or have a hurricane come thru to "test" his readiness.

I have at least 6 months of spaghetti squash! I really want to get a beehive or two in the spring. Thank God for bumblebees of which I have thousands. They are doing all the pollinating here.

Your husband has a valuable education I wish more people would have received. Including myself. I think you should start a summer camp for families. Call it "Reality Training 101" I would be the first to come.

Yes, soooo many children are growing up with computer skills an no survival skills. It's really sad.

It's good to hear you are seeing lots of bees. Without them were doomed for sure. A bee keeper about thirty minutes away from where I live lost all of his bees, they just dissapeared.

Thanks. I never would have thought of that. I did add peach puree to my pear before I dried it for leathers. My kids are eating it almost as fast as I make.
