Crafters- What are you making???

Pics
I have no Christmas spirit this year. My children are grown and on their own...no more baking, decorating, cutting of the tree, secretly adopting a less well off family and buying Christmas items for them, no caroling at the nursing homes, all the things I always insisted upon doing...making of traditions I guess. My oldest is only an hour away...I can impose on her if I really felt the need. Oldest is in Germany with my 3 grandkids while daddy is in Iraq. Haven't seen them in a year and a half...miss them very much. USPS/military mail sucks...sorry, just my opinion. Sometimes takes a month to send them priority boxes and postage is so expensive. Think I would just like to hibernate as the bears do, thank you.

SpeckledHen...lovely quilting. Know of any quilts that can be made on a serger by chance???

Lostsoul sounds like you need to be "needed" again...head on over to the knitting club or the crochet swap thread and make yourself at home with a bunch of chatters that will meet your nurture needs..welcome in either thread.....

That apron is precious..and a good idea!!!

I guess I don't understand, I know your kids are grown and gone and making traditions of their own but why does that mean you have to stop doing the things you love at Christmas. The needy family is still needy, and they love cookies too. Why can't you still decorate and sing. I understand that it is hitting you hard but hey there are people who need you now. Why not become a big sister, or volenteer to read at the libray to children after school. There are a lot of people out there who really could use a neat lady like you in their life. I sure hope you pick yourself up and find them. Me if I lived in a big town I would rock the premmie babies. That is my dream, to live on a farm and rock babies in need.

Thank you. Actually, I know nothing about anything except handpiecing and quilting. If you asked me to make a dress or to use a machine, you'd probably be very sorry, LOL.

Lostsoul - I am almost in the same boat, with one exception. I am choosing to push aside the lack of spirit and remember what the day is all about in the first place. We have absolutely no money for gifts for anyone this year, including the kids. So I guess it's about spreading the love that this holiday represents. It's really ok to have a pity party once in a while, but if you aren;t careful you may wind up in one for weeks. Probably not good for you or your family. Pray for you military members, bake cookies for neighbors, cut down a small tree and thank God you have a house to put it in.

That's great! Type it out! I think we are all here to offer what ever we can to lift each other. I have been going through my own share of stuff and it's easy to get down about. Like I said, pity party for a day is ok, but longer than that it may not be pretty. I will keep you in my prayers.
