Crafters- What are you making???

Nice to know I am among compulsive crafting friends here, lol!!! What's one more project when you have 15 in the works already?!!!

I originally thought just stuffing but the sand might be a good idea, not sure about the oyster shell Zoo. I do feed that to my chickens but to me, it smells really fishy!! Might be why they love it, lol!! Don't know if a fishy chicken would go over real well though and the sand may seep out of felt too as the holes wont close up as well as cotton, hmmm, maybe rice? I dunno..might have to experiment! I know that I am gonna work on my Christmas stuff all year this year and put it in plastic totes in the garage when I'm done so I have less to do at one time. Can't wait for spring so I can can some jams!!! Right now I need to cut back my concord grape vine and I'll make some wreaths with that, maybe try to twist it into more like a basket, pretty flexible when it's green.

Thanks for the link to Chel's instructions MP, never even thought to look there but went back ALL through this thread!!

Anyway, yes, we all have ALOT of projects, lol!! There are so many seamstresses on this forum Zoo, really surprised there aen't more in Wild's block swap..like where is the Parson's Wife and Sterling Acres and Kitty? They all sew...and many more.....beat the drum louder I guess!!

I would, but right now DH is barely working so there is NO money for anything extra. We just cancelled insurance to save money.
This year I will be working froom what I have around here and what I can scrounge up from friends/relatives and freecycle.

Until this last fall the sewing machine and I didn't get along. I'm busy enjoying the projects I have going at the moment. I just did the halfway block for Kute Kitten's quilt this morning.

I was thinking of filling some of the chicken pincushions with dried pine or cedar instead. Then they could be used in the car as air fresheners.

For the yellow chicken pincushions, Wildsky suggested salt and that made me thing kosher, fat crystal salt would probably be a good idea, might mix a bit of rice with it to keep any dampness out but thought I could give that a try. Dollar tree carries the small boxes of kosher salt. Think I'll get my seed bead eyes on and stuff one with the salt and see....I'll let you know in case anyone else wants to make them too..or the bunnies for Easter....could use felt for them too..the ears would be soooo cute in felt!

I bet you are so right about the salt eating through the felt. I think I will go with my first thought and stuff them, I have a bag of poly fill that will be just fine. Have to sew their eyes on first
