Crazy easy way to make hard boiled eggs

Quote:
Ok I am going to give it a try, I end up letting my eggs sit in the fridge for up to 3 weeks before I even attempt to peel them and they never look quite right.

I am a believer, no more half hearted attempts to pry the white from the shell, no ugly misshapen eggs that are hardly worthy of egg salad. Today, I made 18 perfect, beautiful hard boiled eggs using this method.

I can't get over the fact that so many people have struggled with making perfect hard boiled eggs. My mom taught me to rinse them in cold water about 40 years ago, and I've told many since then.

If I'm just making them to eat myself, I only cook them for 10 minutes though. I like them a little softer.

I made 2 dozen deviled eggs for friends of mine yesterday...some of the eggs were still warm from the coop! Every one peeled perfectly.

Chickensista, I tried your method and it worked well. I left four eggs out on the counter overnight, brought salted water to a rapid boil, lowered eggs in with slotted spoon, set timer and then put them into cold tap water (it is 40 degrees from the well), let sit ten min., cracked shells & put back into the cold water and then peeled them in the water.
I'm glad to have a good method because I found a charming old deviled egg dish on eBay, but the only time I tried to do deviled eggs, most of the whites pulled off in big lumps and they tasted good but were unsightly. So, how to boil water and how to boil eggs-guess I'm not too old a dog to learn new tricks after all.

Not sure if this has been mentioned but I also had trouble with boiled eggs, so I stared doing it different. With store bought I never had a problem by boiling and plunging into ice water. But that method didn't work with my fresh brown eggs. So I did the opposite just because. I bring them to a boil and let them cool down in the warm water to room temp. Because I like to have some on hand, I put them in a zip lock freezer bag in the fridge until I am ready to peel one. I do about 7 at a time and they are eaten within a weeks time. It worked for me.
