Crazy easy way to make hard boiled eggs

I have always boiled the water 1st and added salt and normally this is ok but about 5% of the time I find the outside of the egg sticks to the shell or is very soft (almost uncooked) even though the egg is hard boiled.

And of course you should tell you hubbie he has shown you how to reproduce a miricle. We all need encouragment

I have had my chickens for less than a year, but this has been the biggest challange thus far! Thank you so much, I share our bounty with all our family and friends, they will all be getting an e-mail or phone call about this!

Wow- just had to say this really DOES work!! I had a party and made a lot of boiled eggs to add to potato salad this weekend, and I tried 2 pots of eggs- same age (under a week), 1 using boiling water and the other eggs I started in cold water, just like I have always done. There was an amazing difference in how the eggs peeled, and looked- the boiling water recipe really gets you some nice looking eggs- they peel so easily (I boiled mine for about 10 minutes and that was good for me). THANKS- I can have fresh AND nicely boiled eggs again!

I just boiled up 16 eggs to make deviled eggs for my hubbie's employee lunch at work tomorrow.

THIS WORKS!

I filled a pot half with water and a dash of salt, brought it to a boil, ladeled 16 eggs into the pot and let them boil for 15 minutes (I watched them so they didn't bounce and crack and gently stirred them), after the 15 minutes, I rinsed them and I put them right into a bowl of water with ice. I let them sit about five minutes before starting to try to peel them. I cracked them against the counter and at first pull the shells slipped right off! They were all perfect and in no time I had all 16 shelled!

I just tried this-NOW- I've never HB my fresh eggs before, so I can't compare methods- but I followed the OP's directions except I only boiled my eggs for 13 minutes (eggs are on the small side- tiny pipsqueak chickens) and they came out great

I've got to say this is the best way ever! I've read about so many ways to do this on here, but everyone raved about this method so much so I did try it myself (3 times so far!), and every time, the eggs have come out perfect.

I can't wait to try it on my bantam eggs to use them for deviled eggs. I about drove my son crazy one Christmas holiday. He asked what he could bring and I gave him a couple dozen bantam eggs and asked him to make them into deviled eggs. He couldn't peel them without tearing them apart. With this method, deviled eggs can look pretty again!

Everyone who has been coming to buy eggs, chicks or ducks from me recently has been getting the lowdown from me on how to make the perfect hardboiled egg. And everyone I've talked to has always done it like the rest of us, putting the eggs in cold water and then bringing to a boil. The secret is putting the eggs in the boiling water!

I'm forever grateful for this method. Thank you!

My only issue with this method is putting the eggs in the boiling water. One at a time seems to take too long-I feel like the first eggs put in will be overdone. I've been looking for a basket to fit my pan but haven't had any luck yet. I don't want to buy a new pan with a basket because I don't have room for it.

I did have a few of the store bought eggs I tried that still didn't peel well with this method. I buy pasteurized shell eggs so I think maybe this pasteurization process may do something that makes them not peel as easily.
