Dual Purpose CCL would be a good name... you can either select the bigest males and females and go from there... OR go outside of the breed for size, like Partridge rocks or Welsummers, but they will add the brown egg shell gene, its hard to find a DP breed that lays white eggs...

Actually it would be better to name the "Layer only" Legbars something like:

Crested Cream Layers

That way you would avoid the confusion and people don't purchase the laying only version for any purpose other than laying.
But that doesn't seem consistent with chicken naming convention does it? I mean what do you even call a layer breed like leghorns? For dual purpose there's the term "dual purpose". Plus there's so much out there already saying this is a layer breed you'd have to fight all that info for a long time to come. I guess both could change name. What a headache. Thanks.

But the point is that there is no standard other than what we Legbar breeders want to make it. So I have pointed out that their is already a split in that some want the breed to just be layers and some what the breed to be dual-purpose.

There is no accepted standard but there has been a lot of progress toward one and all these people have put in a lot of effort to get that going and it the things you are saying makes it sound like (and I hope this isn't the case) you're trying to trash all that work.

umm... since you are creating the DP Cream Legbars its up to you to Re name them, I doubt the current CCL owners would accept changing its name.. Hey I just found a good large DP breed that lays white eggs and are crested and the males ahave Duckwing pattern,

I hesitate to step into the fray, but must note that writing an SOP, let alone creating and running a viable club, is beyond an enormous amount of work. At least 8 people that I know of have put the equivalent of a full-time job's work into the endeavour. Curtis and Kestlyn put an unbelievable number of hours into research alone. Something as paltry as the newsletter takes me at least 50 hours to complete, which of course is partially due to my ineptness but is also due to the simple scope of it.

Of course anyone is free to write an SOP and form a club. Just be aware of what you are getting into, all for the sake of defining the breed as one which lays or lays and is eaten. Creating a whole new breed club over such hairsplitting -- for surely a layer may be eaten -- seems like an appallingly inefficient use of your time.
