YAY!!!!!

Hey Erin~ How have you been? I will pm you to get some pointers of what worked best when you hosted a swap.

So any other crocheters interested????
idunno.gif

Of course I need to get approval with administrators if there is an interest. I will need to start a separate thread for the SWAP.

*I figure we could do 6 " Granny Squares
*Any Pattern
* Hmmm...need to think about colors???
*Have a time limit deadline for people to sign up
*A deadline of when to have them complete.
*Do one square for as many people that sign up. So if 16 people sign up, then 16 granny squares are due, etc.
*Label each square w/ your BYC username. I know I'm sentimental and like to know who did what square.
*Maybe put each square in a plastic sandwich baggie for mailing protection. I also like to put the bagged up individual group in a bigger zip lock bag for further protection, but that is just me.

So anyone else interested???? I think it will be fun.

Let me know I will proceed to get approval.

Thanks~

I use the basic granny square pattern with about four rows to the pattern then use an additional row all around each one as I join them together. I never sew them together. sometimes each row is a different color and sometimes not. I also do one that starts round and ends up square and another is a hexagon. I prefer the scrappy ones supposedly to use up some of my stash but if I run out of a certain color I buy more so my stash stays the same. I received a bunch of yarn and all sizes of crochet hooks not too long ago. It's funny really because I had dozens of crochet hooks aquired through the years when I'd lose one, replace it and then find the one I lost, usually in my chair. Last year I donated all the ones I had extra to teacher that teaches crocheting to her students during recess and after school. I sent her all kinds of yarn I knew I'd never use also. Well, now I have just as many hooks as I had before and maybe more so plan on donating them to her again. I bought a book a while back that has 100 different patterns for making motifs like the granny for making afghans or whatever. I still haven't tried any yet but might make a sampler afghan using the different ones. Well, have to go water the chickens and my birds in the aviary. Have a good day all.....

You can count me in....Six sounds good....even 10. It might be best to specify cotton thread or yarn so we can combine them with others in our stash
Thanks~

Hi ChickenSnake!

YAY!!! So glad you are interested in the Granny Square SWAP.

I really appreciate the info on swap-bot, but actually looking forward to hosting a swap. I've participated in several of the crochet swaps over the years on here and always thought it would be fun to host, but didn't have the time. The swap-bot site looks cool. Thanks for the info.

My sister is not a member here, but she is an avid crocheter. When I saw this thread, I told her about it, and she would be interested in participating if she could.
Thanks,
Lindsey

I refrain myself now days since I have such a stash spilling out of my guest bedroom closet.

I personally like to use a size H hook for granny squares and I use bigger ones for scarves and hats. I think one time a toddle afghan pattern I was working on called for a G size hook.

Let us know it goes after you give it a whirl with your new supplies.
