I totally understand, its a whole different kinda fun when you're in charge lol or maybe I'm just a little power hungry

On swap-bot you can host as well as participate in swaps others are hosting. Just fyi, are there any rules for BYC swaps? How do we swap on here and when does it start? Sorry if I'm rushing things, I always get so excited!

I really appreciate the info on swap-bot, but actually looking forward to hosting a swap. I've participated in several of the crochet swaps over the years on here and always thought it would be fun to host, but didn't have the time. The swap-bot site looks cool. Thanks for the info.

Good going, now you have a new addiction! Once you get it down and relax theres nothing like sitting in bed or on the porch making a few mindless loops watching it turn into a beautiful useable creation. Youtube is how I learned to crochet two years ago, now I'm three blankets down and waaaay to many scarves and flowers to count! Youtube is your diy, when you want, how you want, free teacher station! I had a hard time reading patterns, Its mostly just watching someones hands and I can pick it up right away. Reading to learn? Forget about it lol.

* If you want to do more than the required amount just make sure the amount due is doubled to make swapping divide evenly among all participates. So if 16 people sign up and you want to make make more than the required, then complete 32. Does that makes sense??

*There will be a completion deadline date of when squares must be finished.

*Everyone participating in the swap will pm me their address. I will pm my address to them as well.

* There will be a mailing deadline of when the squares need to be mailed to me.

*Label your squares with your username, because everyone always likes to know who did what pattern, etc. I will post a pic of what I've done in the past to label mine for mailing. You may also put your real name on there if you want to, but it is not required, just your username.

*Put each square in a sandwich bag. I like to put all my individual sandwich bagged square into a larger ziplock bag with my username on it. That's just me. I know I heard about swaps in the past that packages ripped and projects got wet in the mailing process.

*Mailing has been handled differently with each swap. Once we decided to use the pay one price priority boxes. The last swap I participated in we mailed it the cheapest way possible.

*Everyone will include mailing fee money to me in with their SWAP Granny Squares, so I can pay to mail everyone's SWAP Granny Squares to them.

*After I receive all Participates SWAP Granny Squares, then I will divide them and mail everyone back their stash of SWAP Granny Squares.

It's really a lot of fun. The whole process of chatting with everyone deciding what pattern you will use. Thinking of what projects you will make after receiving the SWAPS. Posting pics of the process or getting help if you get stuck, etc.

Then after receiving the swaps, post pictures of what projects you've made out of them. I've seen some really cool projects made out of hodge-podge swap granny squares. All my squares from previous swaps are lonely stashed away waiting for me to make something out of them.

I use a slip stitch for Granny squares and blocks but use a whip stitch for joining sweater and clothing pieces together. Not sure why I use different stitches for these projects though.

I LOVE the idea of doing a swap! I actually enjoy stitching different design squares just for practice. Do all the squares I make need to be the same? Are we paying to ship them twice? I didn't understand that part. The only other swap I was part of was the hot pad swap and we only mailed them to one person. So is the idea that we are paying less to ship one box to you, Smitty's Farm, and then only a fraction of the next shipment? I guess you'd have to do the math and see which way is cheaper. Shipping costs are getting ridiculous!

BTW I agree on keeping it as part of BYC. This forum has become very special to me and, I know, to most of you as well. Having squares from all of you dear folks would be a really special treat!!!

I hope everyone posts pics of their squares before they ship them! Also it would be awesome to see pics of any finished projects that includes these squares.

No pressure though, I know sometimes just having the squares to treasure from others, that cared enough to make them, is enough.​
