Crochet "Chat"

We are trying to learn to change colors, so this will be a good opportunity to try perfect that. I'll see how many of the kids want to take part, and then we'll get started on colors and simple squares and who knows, by then someone may have learned a fancier square! I appreciate you including us very much.

When ever you like! We are just starting to learn how to make them so any they can see if person would be wonderful but don't go out of your way or hurry for us.

I'll be happy to send you some. When would you like them?

What colors would the children like? What colors would they not like? I'm thinking of making squares for both them and the swap.

Oh I'm sorry, I didn't mean to offend when I said that pink was a warm color. I am an artist/designer and in art and design the color wheel is split into 2 halves. Warm colors are represented on one half of the wheel and cool colors on the other. Pink is just a different intensity of red and therefore falls on the warm side of the color wheel.

I absolutely understand your point of view that pink is not visually a "warm" color to you. I was speaking strictly from a textbook meaning and not inferring that the colors do not go well together (sorry the teacher in me is always, well, teaching). I'm sure these combos will look gorgeous together. Just when I first came up with the idea of a cool color pallette I meant from that half of the color wheel only. I never intended to dictate what you do with your swap.

I just said that stuff when I thought I was going to host because I took your hesitancy earlier as a sign that I was pushing you into it when you didn't really want to do it. I apologize for any misunderstandings.

They like most colors, but pinks, purples, and blues show up a lot in their clothing and anything they have to color. I don't think I have any picky kids at all, I do have one Goth, she wears everything black lol,, with a touch of red or white. She crochets with all colors though, it doesn't carry over in her designs!
I just got back from Wal Mart, I had ordered 5 #5 crochet hooks and they came in, so I know 7 of the kids will have the same size hook to work with, and hopefully soon they will get in a few more #5. I want those working on the project to use the same size hooks and yarn. I picked up some lavender, rose, lime green, dark green, teal, dark blue, and a couple of other colors to start working with that I hope will be on the right side! They match the colors put up to see.

There are too many pages in this thread for me to read all of them, so I dont know if anyone has posted this yet... The sugar'n cream cotton yarn that you crochet dishrags out of has a booklet called Country Kitchen (I just picked it up at michael's for around 4 bucks). They have chicken potholders, chicken egg coozies, chicken teapot coozies, aprons, and market bags with chicken pockets. There are other patterns in it as well, but I figured y'all may be interested in those ones! I'm working on a pot holder right now, just need to finish up feet and attach the comb, beak, and feet. I'll put up a picture when I'm finished!

I use a color wheel when working with quilts and have to admit there is pink and then there is pink. It can be either warm or cool depending on where it's used. I don't think anyone's feelings will get hurt. We are friends here and we are all learning from one another. I may be old but I'm open to learning something new. and do very often. I have some more crochet hooks to give you Kate. Someone gave them to me and I don't need that many. I'll send some squares I've made that may give you some ideas also. I always have extras left over from a project.

Thank you Betty!!! I'm always afraid I'll hurt someone's feelings! I have stepped in it a time or two in my life. LOL! I am really looking forward to seeing what you all come up with!
