Please please please please please don't make the Spring squares to hard????? Remember, I'm a writer, I visualize words not squares! LOL, we want to try it, I do myself too. Can you post an example of a floral square by the way, I'd love to see what it is?

I think it would be a floral theme but you could just do a normal granny square in floral hues.

Ok Betty if you don't want to do it I will. I still think Betty would be better at it since she had her's in early and would stay on top of it really well. I'm often a day or two (actually much more with things that have no due date) behind on my projects but I used to be an Event Planner and if I can handle that... Still kinda hoping Betty wants to do the next one and I'll do the one after? But I'll do it if she doesn't want to, or can't this time around. I do have to warn you all that I'm not crazy about neon colors or the color pink so if you love those colors you'll be out of luck if I host it.

I would love something on the cool side of the color wheel this time. Kinda the opposite of what we did this time around. Blues, greens, purples... Like cool water colors. That would be different than the last spring swap and this one.

Oh there you are Betty! You posted while I was still typing. What do you think? Do you want to host the next swap?

I guess I can....but not sure how to post everything. I like the cool colors also but again would like everyones to be in 4ply yarn and no cotton so that they can all be used in an afghan.

That's ok. If you don't know how to post everything then I'll do it. I agree that it should be 4 ply and no cotton or wool yarns that can't be washed and dried. I didn't mean to be pushy. It's not a problem for me to host it since it's not til spring.

Ok Kate. You can have your students start them but I am not going to start the thread for the spring swap yet. I think most folks would like to get through the holidays before they commit to a new swap. But since you want to start the kids on them early I will set a few parameters. I'll go through my stash and see what I have in 4 ply that I can send to you and the kids. I have a nice small box that I can ship pretty cheap to you. I may even have a couple extra hooks I can spare, let me check.

Cool colors in a 4 ply acrylic yarn. I like the 6" squares so we can stick with those. Let the kids know that if they are a little small they can just add a single crochet edge (or two) to make them a little bigger.

Here are some examples of cool colors...

Great! Now is there is certain pattern we should be looking at or are basic squares ok? They will get really excited over this lol, while we were doing the food drive today I had 4 girls sitting with the boxes crocheting up a storm practicing the basic squares. We might graduate to harder ones by then, I just found a ton of sites with a lot of pretty squares that seem like we should be able to work up to them.

Any squares are fine! The basic ones are awesome too since an afgan can get a little busy with too many different designs thrown together. We would welcome more basic designs.
