I love making granny squares!!!! There are a ton of free patterns for all kinds of granny squares floating around the internet. Does that mean you might want to participate in the Spring crochet swap??? How's the kid's crocheting club going? I think that is so wonderful what you are doing to help the kids learn all the lost arts. Keep up the fantastic work.

That's funny. I am the opposite. I like the tighter stitches for squares and looser for blankets. Maybe I should reverse that now that we live in snow country. In the San Francisco Bay Area we never needed much extra warmth so a light blanket was perfect but here, in the hills north of Reno, it gets mighty cold!!!

Welcome to the thread. I'm not a wonderful crocheter, just love to crochet, know a handful and have an active imagination. I can't really read instructions, usually go as far as I can and then improvise, so can't help you there. There are a lot of patterns online. I type in "easy, simple crochet slippers (or whatever)instructions." Good luck.

Do you want to host it Betty? You'd be a great host for the next swap.

Oh yea Betty...do you want to host it? Last year we did floral 6" granny squares to chase away the winter blues!!!! That would be awesome if someone wanted to host it and set details. If no one else wants to do it I will step up to the plate, but I think it would be nice to pass the torch to other crochet swappers that have participated in the past crochet swaps on here. You would be an excellent hostess! You are such a fast hooker and so organized!!!

Yep!!! Sunny is correct we will have to have someone step up to the plate and list all the guidelines of the swap. It changes yearly depending on who host it. Writer I know what you mean about having more time for the kids to work on them. Maybe if a hostess steps up to the plate then they can get going even if the hostess just sends you a private detail w/ what they are planning! Sunny you or Betty would make an excellent host...???? Ok...gotta go do party stuff. I could be on here all day long! I will miss my crochet friends the next few days.

I hope everyone has an excellent weekend!!!!

Thank you SunnyDawn for the link to the Lionbrands site-I will definitely look up some patterns there-and thank you Smitty's Farm for sending me the beanie pattern. I should be able to get started now. That is I can start if I can make myself stop making Christmas ornaments from my chickens eggs.

I did find some yarn that I've had stored for awhile-so I will see if I can use it.

Thanks again! If I manage to make anything presentable-I will post a picture.
