Crochet "Chat"

It is a lovely doily. I have made it and it works up really nice as you can see. Using the smaller thread isn't as hard as it looks but feels strange after using 4 ply yarn. I have a canopy that I crocheted for my stepmom thirty or more years ago for her canopy bed using the traditional bedspread cotton. I think it's called #5 now. It took me almost a year. She is gone now but I aquired her maple canopy bed and the canopy I made her. I have it in my guest room. I have a photo if anyone is interested in seeing it.

I am working on my third set of blocks for the Spring Granny Square swap but nothing else at the moment. I like that wrap jlynn that you made for your mom. I need to make one for myself as my neck gets cold when I'm sitting in my chair in the evenings. None of my girls learned to crochet so I have to make things for myself. One of my girls is a quilter like I am and does regular sewing also but the other two aren't interested.

Smitty's - TY. The most demanding part is keeping track of where you are in the pattern. I've heard some folks photocopy the pattern instructions so they can mark what's been done to help with that. If it's the thread and steel hook size that sounds intimidating - some folks work up doilies in worsted weight or even bulky/super bulky and appropriate hooks for rugs or couch throws. I haven't tried a big one yet, but it's on my list of fun experiments. I'm wondering how big this one will be when/if I do it in worsted with an aluminum H hook ... I also now have size 20 thread to try smaller, too. I consider it an adventure - and the reason I picked up a crochet hook again after all these years was to make lace.

Oh, and I have pulled out three doily attempts now, and many rounds on ones I stuck with to finish. Take the plunge and try one - you will probably surprise and impress yourself!

ETA: baustin, I would love to see it!

The doily is beautiful.

Betty-I'd love to see the canopy.

Other than squares for Writer's students, I'm using up small bits of yarn by making scarves and hats. When I'm on retreat, I'll make a pair of bed socks. The yarn and J hook are already packed.

Thank you for the info.. but it looks like this yarn my be discontinued. Sooo disappointed

I love the pink, white, lavender, much better than those with yellow & green added.. I will keep looking an asking around before I change color. My have to just use a lavender for the sleeves and hood. Thanks so much for your help : )
