Crochet "Chat"

Hello!

Does anyone have any patterns for a semi-beginner? I have been crocheting for maybe 2 years now but I haven't mastered anything really except for scarves and I can't seem to find anyone in my area that I could meet up with to help me!! Any tips?

What would you like to make? Find something, and then the more experienced here can tell you whether it's difficult or not. Once you get started, we could help you overcome any difficult spots.

There are a number of "Mile a Minute" patterns for making afghans. Too there are hundreds of granny squares that are great for practicing. Since they're just a square you won't have to worry about messing up a big project.

Just google "Mile A Minute" afghan patterns or Granny square patterns and you'll find plenty.

Too there are Youtube videos of help in learning. Even someone in the boonies can learn lots of stuff as long as they have internet access.

Besides I'm a guy and if I can learn and do it so can you.

I wish you success.

You tube.

Seriously, you can find so much there. If you can't find anyone in person, it's a great resource. I used it a lot when I was going through chemo. Crocheting was my go-to stress relief. I learned to make different styles of hats, flowers, lap afghans, baby blankets, purses/bags, I can't remember what else. All from my tablet. Some of the ladies that make those videos are amazing, and they're so clear with the instructions. You may have to watch a few to find a style you like, but once you find someone they usually have several videos.

For basic afghans I second the Mile a Minute style. The books are available at Wal Mart, JoAnns, etc.

Thank you everyone for your advice!!

But I do have a question....

I'm making a rectangular bath rug for my home. I'm doing a border but I want to make multiple rows of single crochets before I put a "fancy" border on. Do I need to turn my work when doing multiple rows of edging like I would when making a scarf/blanket or do I just continue going around the same way?

If you are making a border around the entire edge, you should start at one corner and work all the way around and end where you started. At each corner you can put 2 or 3 stiches in the same corner stitch to turn the corner. Hope this helps!

I find SO many patterns on Pinterest. For example, just search there for "Easy crochet blankets free pattern" and pages of patterns will come up. :)

What is everyone working on right now? I just finished clinical rotations at school and now have a lot of time for "fun" stuff. I've been working on a little dog stuffed animal for a friend.

Getting ready to garden. If the weather every warms up. Too chicks. It's spring and so far only one hen has gone broody. Broody hens are gods way of helping us stay off the grid.

FYI , AI HAS BEEN FOUND IN CHATTENOOGA COUNTY GA.

I've been getting all the alerts by email. It's a bit scary. I know the poultry industry is crossing their fingers it doesn't hit like it did in 2015. I've been telling all my friends I be careful about what they bring in and who they buy from!

Gardening sounds like fun. I graduate this year and should be moving out to Arizona this summer. Hoping to have some window gardens at least! I know their growing season is very different from ours here on the east coast.
