Crochet "Chat"

When I started, I was using a 5mm hook. That one is a good size and is good for most common yarn types. Red heart and super saver yarns are good starting yarns because they are cheap, but I also like the cotton yarns (candy yarns I think) because they have a nice texture and are good for easy projects like coasters and potholders.

Revelry has a bunch of good free patterns and so does Pinterest. I also bought a few books on Amazon. I also recommend looking into buying a hook set from Amazon if you think you want to continue in crocheting because then you will have every size hook for any project. I got my set on Amazon for $10. I also purchased stitch markers which are a must have if you are going to do projects with continuing rounds like stuffed animals, hats or coasters.

It's called the crocodile stitch. Look it up on YouTube. There are dozens of tutorials for different projects.
