I haven't been doing much crocheting (or knitting or quilting) during the past year, but I did just finished this crochet sampler for my new niece. It came out pretty nice although I changed a few of the patterns to suit my preferences.
During the process, I discovered that I kinda hate changing colors because then all the yarn ends need to be woven in, and I don't really like sewing squares together, either. I guess I'd forgotten why I stopped making granny squares so long ago. Bad news is I'm pretty sure there is a drawer in the sewing room that is full of granny squares that have been waiting about a gazillion years to be sewn together.
Reluctant Chicken: I like to use a big hook, too. Speed Crocheting! Having to learn each new stitch pattern really made this project take longer than Im used to.

Lace Ripples:
The Lace Ripples pattern called for a skipped stitch after each stitch, making an open, lacy weave. Instead, I eliminated the skipped stitches to make a more solid pattern.
Baustin,
I havent tried crocheting them together. Do you crochet them together with a slip stitch or the backwards slip stitch or a single crochet?
Do you hold the squares wrong sides together or right sides together so that the joining stitches are on the back or the front?
Hi y'all!!
Long time, no time to post! LOL!!
Been plenty busy hookin' away however!! Got back from a family vacation and had made 2 baby cocoons for a friend who is expecting (twins) to be induced today (Good Luck, Em!! and God BLESS!!) and I tucked in all the ends for my niece's blanket (expecting in Oct) and made her a baby bear beanie!
Gotta get started on more stuff for a church Christmas craft fair I am helping with in Dec! Just found out we'll have a Whole Room to fill with our goodies!
Hoping to keep up with everyone (and everyThing!)!!
