Crop issue in underweight pullet - Sour Crop? Worms?

Make sure to give the yeast medication twice a day for 7 days.

She may have a partial blockage of the gizzard, but let's hope the slow crop is from inflammation to worms/coccidia.

I would let her eat small amounts of wet soupy mash at a time. She needs hydration of course, but nutrients too.

She's not overly fond of her new apron, but I'm pleased with the support it gives her. I don't know who on this site mentioned it, but I finagled a face mask to support her crop. She's much more lively if given run access. but will supervise her run time for the rest of the day.

If the apron seems to help and her poop gets more solid, then I think it'd serve her better to be out with the others tomorrow.

Never thought I'd be a poop investigator, but it seems to come with the chicken territory 😊

That it does! Keep an eye on the crop emptying speed - particularly the emptying in the morning - hopefully, the sling can be a permanent solution for her and this is the end of her woes.

Her crop was empty this morning! She has some adjusting to do as I'm sure her crop feels more full quicker than she's been used to.

Still have a droopy chicken, but we're making progress. As long as she does her little chirps, I know we're relatively ok.

Out of curiosity - would a motherly hen take her in, in a sense, at this age? She likes to tuck up under the others at night on the roost to get warm so I'm wondering if an older hen would help her (and the others when it comes to laying time). My pullet that passed was one of her regular cuddle buddies.

I'm glad she's doing a little better.

You can try with a hen, but most hens will not take in one that old.
Sick birds a lot of times needs a little extra heat. If she's struggling, you may want to bring her in at night or if you have electric in your coop, provide her with a heating pad to see if that helps.

Thank you for your help.

She unfortunately did not make it, but now I know what to look for in the future. I think I didn't catch it early enough and her little body was too dehydrated/weak to bounce back.
