We got 8 chicks in mid February and noticed recently one of the Black Star chicks was much smaller and basically immobile. We separated her immediately - her legs appear to have a cross leg issue, she will hold one foot up towards the other and can’t walk or balance without flapping her wings. Because of this her nails caused a HUGE gash in her other leg on the upper inside. We’ve kept it clean and put ointment on it. I made her cloth booties to cover her feet because she kept reopening or making new wounds when she lost her balance. Her wounds are healing now but she still has the issue where she can’t walk. When she balances it’s usually on one foot with the other sitting on top. One foot doesn’t even flatten itself most of the time, her toes will crunch up. We’ve kept her nourished and she poops fine so internally all is well. But the other chicks are almost double her size now and ready to go in the coop. I keep trying to engineer new things to help her legs or keep her comfy but nothing has worked so far. Any advice?
