Curled feet.

I raised up a cross beak cockerel until he was big enough to process. Towards the end I could tell it was getting hard for him but he was not suffering

I just feel so sorry for the little thing. It’s smaller than some of the others, was a straggler. Will see how it goes.

Knock a knot in them asks . They aint too big for that !!

Edited because I just realized Im talking to a room full of mods and Educators. :D

:yuckyuck Yeah but we don’t bite ;)

I know I’m bad! Get that rain coat and umbrella out! Thank you granny :hugs

Well I best love you and leave you all. 10pm here so it’s my bedtime, or I will turn into a pumpkin!

Catch you all tomorrow :frow

Hi YC. I'll just add this quick. I had a coturnix quail with a curled foot. She did manage to get about in the run sort of ok. I don't think she suffered particularly but she did spend alot of time sat down. She died when she was about two yrs old. This sucks for you I know because I thought they all hatched ok. If they are suffering maybe the best thing would be to cull them but if they seem to manage..? Tough call but you could use them for food if your not bothered about that. At least they wouldn't go to waste.

I had one of those in my hatch. Thought it just had curled toes but then when i tried to make boots for it, the ankles did not bend, seemed fused in one position so i had hubby cull it. I also have one with a crooked beak , but it seems to be doing fine so it will be a meal when it gets big enough.
It sucks, but since the momma quail won't incubate babies we have to do the best we can. Hugs.
