As Spring comes We have officially reached our 60th order! To celebrate I decided to try my first custom order for a costumer who had one, very dramatic hen. I truly believe it could be the reincarnation of Mary queen of scots, trapped in the body of this one very judgmental, corn eating brahmana chicken.

That's not the point I guess

This model was to be made with 100 percent recycled materials,

  • 2 pallets
  • leftover shingles from a demo project
  • nails from "THE" bin
  • and off cut wire and plywood from other coops
This was the final product:

Later tricycle tires were added with lag bolts and a nut for spacing, making the coop the perfect palace for this haggis chicken.... pardon my language.

Total cost 3$- that darn dollar store toy.

Nice build! May I ask, what are the dimensions, and how many birds are going in it?
this was for one bird and ended up being 50" L x 40" W, it took 2 hours to build because the pallets where cut at 45 degree angles at the same spot then screwed back together inverted to create the framing for the roof.

Is this a run and coop combo or just a run/just a coop? If its a combo, like a tractor, thats only 7 ft rounded down. Thats not even big enough for one bird. Plus, why would you want a coop for just one bird? Chickens are social animals so should always have flock mates with them.
I hope this doesn't come off as rude, just trying to learn a bit more about the build. :)

I agree. Very bad idea to have a single bird in that tiny coop.

Though, I think they said it’s a coop for someone else.

Correct, from the original post since it appears several people missed it:
. . . custom order for a costumer who had one, very dramatic hen. . .
Also @Weeg appears to have the math a bit wrong - 40”x50” is a bit more than 3’x4’ so 12 square feet (actually 13.8 but presumably the interior is a bit smaller). From the picture that looks like it’s all run with the coop over a portion of it.

Good post, yes, I tend to round down when I look at dimensions in inches. So usually my sq. footage is off. Thanks for correcting me. :p

Nice! It'll give her sun and shade and protects her from the weather and wind. It even gives her a little bit of privacy AND its CUTE as heck!!The dollar store toy is what sets it off! LOL I wouldn't mind having one for a grow out pen for chicks !
