I am going to try denagard for my chickens. I am pretty sure we are dealing with chronic CRD. I know where it came from but in general our girls keep healthy, but this winter they are a mess. We've been dosing Tylan but I think they have gotten resistant.
I have Denagard. How do I get a therapeutic dose down three chickens who don't drink a ton (and love snow melt water)?

Yes, I just don't know if they will get much if I give it in waterer given how much they like to drink snow water. If I add to feed do I first dilute to appropriate level and then add to feed? Will that give them enough therapeutically?

CRD (Chronic Respiratory Disease) also known as Mycoplasma Gallisepticum (MG) is a serious bacterial infection that affects poultry. This disease is chronic, meaning that symptoms can go away and reappear at anytime, especially if they get stressed. All asymptomatic birds are lifetime carriers, spreading and shedding the bacteria from their feces, dander, feathers, respiratory secretions and other bodily fluids. I also highly recommend that you NEVER breed from your sick birds, because the MG bacteria can spread to the offspring from the infected parents to the developing embryo, making any chicks that happen to hatch, will be already sick with the bacteria and the cycle starts over again. It is best to keep a closed flock- meaning that you shouldn’t bring in anymore birds to your infected flock and don’t let any birds leave your sick flock. If you choose not to cull your birds, let them live their lives, until they pass away by themselves. I would highly suggest and recommend that you cull the sickest bird and send it off for a necropsy test to know for sure if this is MG that you’re dealing with. It is critical in poultry to get your sick birds tested because most of these diseases can be serious and/or fatal.

Here’s two great places where you can either send out a live sample or a necropsy sample:

I hope this helps!

Yes, it's probably MG. We know the place it came from. We are letting the flock live out their lives however, as they are pets. We don't breed and they barely lay anymore. I've done a lot of research on it. I do worry we might be spreading to wild birds but?? We are in town and not likely to spread to other poultry owners.

Thanks. Is it ok in your opinion to switch from tylan to denagard? Are there any drawbacks to denagard? Tylan has been our go-to for this chicken but it just isn't working anymore.

Also, her symptom is a swollen bubbly eye. We pushed pus out of it a week ago but it seems to have gotten MORE swollen since. Will denagard help knock back the infection so we can remove pus again?

According to this thread below, dosage is 2 ml per quart/liter or 8 ml per gallon of water. It tastes bad, so you can try flavoring it, and also add it to some feed.

Also, even if we directly dose the chicken with the issue, should we/could we do the therapeutic dose in the water for the other ladies? If she drinks it will getting more denagard be a problem for her?
